Taylor Swifts unopened fan mail found in bin - celebrity news

A huge pile of unopened fan mail sent to Taylor Swift has been discovered in a dumpster in Swift's hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.

Local resident Kaylee Francescan discovered the letters which, she said, were "covered with pictures, hearts and sparkles", when she went to throw out her own rubbish.

"There were like hundreds of letters in there to Taylor Swift and I'm like, 'Oh my gosh!' I didn't know if they were stolen [or] discarded, so I threw them in a box," she told local station WKRN-TV.

"And I'm like, 'Somebody needs to let Taylor know,' It did bother me [because] I know how much her fans mean to her."

The fan mail is usually sent to a PO Box in a Nashville mall, where a member of Taylor's team collects the letters. However, her rep revealed that the discarded fan mail was down to a clerical error.

"Taylor gets thousands of fan letters everyday and they are delivered to her management office. After the letters are opened and read, they are recycled," her spokesperson Paula Erickson said.

"A small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling center."

Taylor Swift is known for her consideration to fans. "It blows me away how thoughtful and organized they are," Swift has said. "Sometimes they'll give me a scrapbook or a project that was made by hundreds of fans from around the world."

The letters have since been given to a member of the singer's PR team to pass on.
